Come and See: Part 1
In part 1 of this series we will explore Mark 2:1-12 and meet a group of friends that work together and are determined to help their friend get to Jesus. They have to get past a crowd of people blocking their way and they have to overcome some obstacles. Ultimately they help their friend get to Jesus and his life is forever changed.
When you are sharing your faith you may encounter similar challenges. There may be other people that seem to be blocking the way. Your friend may have had a bad experience with someone that claimed to be a Christian previously. One of the frequent objections people will use to reject Jesus and refuse to become part of a church family is that there are too many "hypocrites". There may be a crowd of people you are going to need to help your friend get past so that they can see Jesus.
You may also encounter other obstacles along the way. There may have some guilt or shame over some past sin or mistake they have made in the past. They may have had an experience with a legalistic Christian that piled up a bunch of non-biblical rules and told them they essentially had to clean their act up some before Jesus could love them. They may have some misconceptions about what the Bible does or doesn't say or what it actually means to follow Jesus.
Take heart though. If you stick with them and stay committed as the friends in this passage do then one day your friend may very well meet Jesus and walk away with their life forever changed. You may get the joy of being a part of their story.
